Medical gas monitoring

Personal safety

Staff working in medical environments can be at risk of long term exposure to nitrous oxide (N20). It is therefore essential that the maximum acceptable exposure level across an eight-hour period (time weighted average) are adhered to and monitored correctly. Occupational exposure limits can be monitored using a background analyser with trigger alarms during data logging, or as a personal monitor to measure the levels of N2O within a user’s breathing zone.  Alternatively analysers can be used for leak detection on gas supplies and storage areas. With our G200 portable N20 analyser, immediate alarms can be set or the time weighted average calculated which can then be recorded and downloaded for graphing and reporting.

Piped gas verification

A mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen is used as a sedative in medical facilities, as well as acting as an aid for breathing. It is therefore vital that the gases used are of a high quality and are not contaminated, this is a legislative requirement. It is essential for gas samples to be taken from piped medical gases to ensure that the gases are of the correct quality, as well as ensuring that levels of contamination are identified below the national standard required. Our G210 portable N20 analyser for verification of medical gas is ideal for these monitoring purposes, accurately confirming levels of N20, O2, CO2 and CO as well as ensuring that there are no leaks in the piping from the gas source.
