A landfill gas to energy site in Slovenia

Landfill gas analysis telematics in Slovenia on-line in UK

A landfill gas to energy site in Slovenia needed a 6-channel biogas analyser. Installed and commissioned in June by Automatic Flare Systems (AFS), Coventry with a twin-booster, 600 cu m/ hr flare stack, the Geotech AEMS static gas analyser measures five input lines and one output line to flare that will eventually go to two 400kw CHP engines, due for installation later.

At the CeROD landfill in an ex-quartzite quarry in Novo Mesto, Slovenia , AFS client, Minerva Žalec d.d specified a 6-channel gas analyser. For AFS, Geotech in Leamington Spa responded with a customised AEMS gas analyser built to order. The gas analysis and flare stack data have secure online Internet access.

From the AFS flare and Geotech AEMS, data crosses to site offices by a remote link and from there onto a SCADA system. The data is then linked via broadband for secure Internet viewing, in addition the Geotech AEMS static biogas analyeser has a direct GPRS link. These telematic links enable the Geotech AEMS gas analyser and the AFS flare stack systems to have on-line data download and diagnostics from anywhere and is part of the assured service and support. Flare stack data includes flare temperature, suction on each inlet line, pressure on the gas-engine line and flow rate while the gas analyser is set to sample each of six lines sequentially at three minute intervals. On each gas line, the Geotech AEMS unit checks methane, oxygen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide.
